Frequently Asked Questions….

How do I know if I will be able to work with my counsellor?

You’ll have an initial free twenty minute consultation on the telephone to gather some personal details and talk about your needs. At the end of the call you’ll book a time for your initial face to face session which is where you meet Katy and will establish your working relationship and ensure you both feel comfortable.

Am I under obligation to work with Katy?

Not at all, if it doesn’t feel right for you. It is important to find the right relationship to support you.

As counsellors we all understand that there will be times when the relationship doesn’t feel as though it will be as effective as we want it to be.

How many sessions should I have?

This will depend on what you want to work on.

You may only need one or two if you have something specific you want to focus on or you may want to tackle something that is more complex which may take months to a year or more of weekly sessions.

If you are seeking more than a couple of appointments Katy will book your sessions on the same day and time each week.

Katy may be able to work with you on a weekly adhoc session if your are a shift worker or childcare can be difficult to manage.

What happens if I am late for my appointment?

The remaining time left of the appointment will be yours to use. You will be expected to pay the full fee for the session.

What happens if I am early for my appointment? 

There is a seating area where you can relax. Occasionally you may be able to be seen a few minutes earlier but this is often unlikely so it is not to be relied upon. Any time changes can be discussed with Katy. 

If I cancel the appointment do I have to pay for the session?

Not if you cancel at least twenty-four hours before. Or there is a valid reason for cancellation within the twenty-four hours due to an emergency or sudden illness for example.
